Please have a Look on the Notes for this Package !

Groundbreaking Changes. For a better Future.

Seven Years ago we started the Development of Suave7 and in 2014/15 we started with the Cydia-Repo, to give Suave7 a new Home. Since this Time, we released a lot of Packages - not only for Suave7.

Over the Years ( especially in the last two Years ) some other Projects were started, like NewsOfTheWorld, moXen, but also the Unleashed-Game-Series with Formula One Unleashed and GRID Autosport Unleashed and all these Packages were uploaded to our Repo …

… and every Package got it's own HTML-File for a Depiction. So we have to maintain not only one File, but also 55 further HTML-Files. It's not possible to keep the Files nearly the same, so updating Things like Social-Links or Package-Names resulted in many Hours of Work.

In June 2020 it was clear we need to change some Things here and in August 2020 we decided to not only put our Hands on the Depictions, but also on the Packages itself. It was Time to bring a little Bit of Structure in the Chaos of Package-IDs.

What we did ?

It's simple : First of all, we started with PHP and build a new Depiction-Page, based on JSON-Files for every Package. On the other Hand, it was also Time to have a Look on the CSS-Site and to re-write the whole Design-Code.

Benefits ?

  • Easier to find Notes-Section …
  • New "Supported iOS" Category …
  • Support for Darkmode on iOS 13 / macOS Mojave …

These are only three Benefits, but there's a lot more, like the Prices, shown for Modified Apps & Tweaks, which also works on Themed Apps & Tweaks, Support for Markdown-formated Content and the Depictions are also ready for the Desktop : No Size-Restriction, means you can view the Depictions on every iDevice you own.

After that, we thought about the Package-IDs and an even better Mechanism to handle the Directory-Structure. During the Years this became a Main Problem :

  • packages
    • fonts
    • suave7
      • themes
      • tweaks
      • tweaks

Yeah … No. The best Thing you can do here is flatten the Directory-Structure. But how deep should we go ? Let's simplify this : Only one Directory is necessary, everything will be hosted in the same Directory. To-Do that, we'd to change the Filenames of every Package and during this Step we decided to change the Package-IDs too.

This is the Reason, why we have 80 Transitional Packages.

Let's have a Look at one of this Transitional Packages …

Package: com.macthemes.suave7-core93x
Version: 2009~transitional
Section: Transitional Packages
Name: Suave7 Core ( iOS 9.3.x )
Author: Aeneon <aeneon@avalon-studios.de>
Maintainer: Aeneon <aeneon@avalon-studios.de>
Icon: file:///usr/share/macthemes/sections/suave7@2x.png
Depends: com.macthemes.suave7.core93x
Architecture: iphoneos-arm
Description: Transitional Package. Update and Remove …
Depiction: https://repo.avalon-studios.de/package.php?id=com.macthemes.transitional

We're using the old Package-ID "com.macthemes.suave7-core93x" with a new Version, so Cydia or every Package Manager thinks, there's a new Update available. By updating this Package, a new Package with the ID "com.macthemes.suave7.core93x" ( see "Depends-Field" ) will be installed. The old Package will be removed. In this Case, there's only a small Change : The Minus between "suave7" and "core93x" will be replaced by a Dot ( underlined ).

That's it.

Unfortunately, after updating a Transitional Package, you have two Packages with the same Name installed. The Description in Cydia shows for every Transitional Package "Transitional Package. Update and Remove" - you can leave them installed, because they're requiring only a few Bytes Space on your iDevice. If you want to remove them it's safe, we want to remove them with a Update.

Thanks for reading this,
Aeneon
